13- The Rear Bumper

Here is the new rear bumper under construction.
I didn't want the conventional Baja rear bumper kit because I think it sticks out too far, so I built my own. Besides, I like being different for a change! I used 2" black pipe for the tubes and 1" x 1" steel angle for most of the structure. The angles on each side go into the rear wheel wells and have two 5/16" bolts through the heavy part of the wheel wells. The bottom support is heavy (1/4" thick) 2" x 2" angle. They have a heavy tab on one end that bolts under one of the transaxle bolts on each side. There is also a heavy angle welded across these two that lines up under the rear of the engine.
The great thing is that I can have it out of the way in about 20 minutes. I just unplug the light harnesses, remove 4-bolts in the fender wells, remove 2-bolts in the transaxle mount and lift it off.
