Installing the
new Baja front end.
I had just finished installing
new front suspension and brakes.
I have changed to front disk
brakes since (Spring of 2007). What a difference!!!
I
choose a 7-piece fiberglass Baja kit with the headlights in the
fenders.
Tips: Work
with the Hood fastened at the rear and centered.
-
Start
cutting the front nose metal away a little at a time while
placing front fiberglass nose piece in place. You need to have
enough body metal inside the sides of the nose piece so you can
bolt it on. Do the cutting in small amounts so you don't cut too
much away.
-
Check
the fenders against the nose to get the nose in the proper position.
-
I used 1/4"
bolts, nuts, fender washers and lock-washers.
-
In the Hood mounting
I choose not to hinge it at the rear. I had bad experiences with
a previous project and couldn't keep the hood from blowing up
and breaking windshields.
