jOrgan- runs in Java on your Windows or Linux PC!
With jOrgan you can
use your computer as a virtual organ. I haven't spent much time with this
program yet, but have had the classical and theatre organs running. It
looks like a great program. What I really like is the versatility of
design. It looks like the sky is the limit as to organs you can build. It
is definitely worth a good long look at!
Did I mention that
it is freeware?
The
hardware-requirements are:
- a computer
running one of the major Operation Systems: Windows, Linux or Mac,
-
external MIDI
keyboard(s) and/or controller(s) such as Digital Piano, Synthesizer,
MIDI-control-box, MIDI-ficated acoustic piano/keyboard/pedals.
- MIDI cable and
MIDI adapter
- MIDI input
device for your computer like a PC soundcard or a USB-MIDI interface).
- MIDI output
device(s) (PC Soundcard, Expander, Hardware/Software Sampler).
Here is a
screenshot of jOrgan showing how an organ can be constructed. This is the
"classical" skin. Also available are the "theatre" and "Hammond" skins.

With jOrgan you can
construct any keyboard based instrument (as long as you have the required
hardware to play and control it) - pipe organs, theatre organs or
harpsichords. Note that jOrgan does not produce sounds itself, it's
depending on other sound producers (software or hardware) which can be
controlled via MIDI.
